Depression And Self-Hatred

Do you want to discover why you’re feeling down so much?  It boils down to the primary symptom, SELF-HATRED, also known as SELF-JUDG EME NT. Where there is misery, there is always self-judgementJudgements are not the same thing as FACTS.All self-judgement is a FALSEHOOD and the CURE is REALITY because TRUTH RESORES YOUR INTEGRITY.Self-judgements have these characteristics:

=> 1. DICHOTOMIES:Judgements infer that the only option available is to select one of two extreme narrow possibilities, for example:  good/bad, moral/immoral, or superior/inferior.

=> 2. COMPARISONS with associates or a perfect self: “Compared with her “I don’t measure up” or “compared with how attractive I must be, I don’t measure up”.

=> 3. AN IDEAL SELF that you “should” measure up to. That standard is always impossible because you are a bonafidehuman being, not an ideal. As a real human being you can expect the entire variety of human feelings and experiences and editing is not an option!

=> 4. THE “SHOULDS”and “musts” of interior dialogue are powerfulsignals of self-judgement.

=> 5. ARBITRARY, VAGUE, GENERAL:Judgements are illogical, nonspecific, have no basis in reality and are not calculable. Why describe yourself as “unattractive” rather than useless, worthless or unlovable or any other label? If we consider how to assess the actual truth of a judgement, might we be able to use a exactmeasure, like amount of tax paid, to determine if the label ““worthless” actually does apply? The futility|pointlessness|meaninglessness] of these statements is apparent.

=> 6. PERVASIVE, REPETITIVE AND SHORTHAND:Self-judgements use shorthand, rapid, easy, phrases that are highly memorable and repeat like a mantra but are very low on accuracy.

=> 7. CONSCIOUS & UNCONSCIOUS:Self-judgement will catch you by surprise: you will only be aware of the tiniest, clearest part of it.Unconscious forms are potent saboteurs needing professional help to overcome them.

CAUTION!  Self hatred can befatal and regularly execute its victims! Here below summarises a March 2010 article in the West Australian Online.  It shows how atwisted, self-hating perspective canprecipitate a person’s untimely death.

Charmaine Dragun, the news reader who jumped to her death from a cliff in Sydney in 2007, had depression for 10 years.  Charmaine was in an extremely competitive industry and she made sure she didn’t show any weaknessbecause she could be instantly replaced by a dozen or so other pretty girls who were begging for her job.She didn’t want to be seen as someone who couldn’t manage the stress.  TV executives were impressed by her delivery of a particularly outstandingbulletin which she had labelled as “the worst ever.”She missed the fact that she was extremelysmart and expressive by harshly denying and minimising her true abilities.  She was sure that she would eventually be sackedfor being unpopular with her audienceand executives.Friends couldn’t convince her that in fact she was truly brilliant. She said herwork was boringand that she just read words that other people had written.

The unskewed reality is this:

Charmaine Dragun was a bright and stunning, rising star of the news world who was also highly intelligent and accomplished.Friends and colleagues esteemed her and her bosses admired the quality of her work. They were keen to see her do well for a long time. She was professional, skilled and immaculately presented. Her hard work and flair stood out above the competition and won her the job.Other people envied her unique gifts and good fortune. She is sadlypoignantly missed..

Recuperating from depression requires a whole-hearted devotion and commitment.Recovery involves replacing self-hating misperceptions with a deep understanding of what’s real.Trusted and competent psychological help is essential in order to achieve an innate and embodied understanding of this knowledge as opposed to a mere cursory, academic understanding.
